Mountain Pasture Output Lofer
Alp Output, where tradition and fun mix together!
The alp output is the conclusion of alp pastures time and the beginning of winter stabling. The time is around Michaeli (29 September till mid-October). The grazing of the cattle is festively adorned with wreaths, branches, bands and mirrors and driven from the pasture into the yard. The large bells that hang on the animals’ necks are particularly fascinating.
If there is a mishap in the family or with the animals, the livestock grazing is not decorated or only decorated with a black ribbon (mourning shrubs).
The alp output takes place in St. Martin bei Lofer ca. on the 4th of September within the framework of the Farmers’ Harvest. A feast with musical accompaniment and traditional performances are organized in the village!
